You Will Give an Account of Your Life

It is good we all realize that our life here on earth is our work. And when we are done this side, we will give an account of what we did with our lives. In one of the messages of Dr Myles Munroe of blessed memory, he made a clear statement that got me thinking. He said, you are about to bring closure to this year and usher us into the next year. This year will be gone forever, we are not going to see it again, until we stand before you to give an account of our lives.”
Although I have always known that, but this one struck me.
Job understood how frail humanity is. He said,
How short is life!
You have decided the length of our lives.
You know how many months we will live,
and we are not given a minute longer.
Job 14:5

God has given us a purpose, and he has given us the amount of time that is enough to fulfill that purpose. And when the end of the time comes, we will retire back to him to give an account of what we did with our lives- whether we like it or not. Thus, it is important to find the reason why you are here, pursue it with all diligence and fulfill it before your time comes. Just as Dr myles would say, ” we were born to do something, but we don’t have forever to do it. The minute I understood this, I discovered that I am on a race between me and my grave”
Very profound!
When we come to the end of our days, God is gonna ask us what we used the time he entrusted us with to do? How we spent the time he gave us? And Yes! your guess is as good as mine- he would want positive results.

For Dr Myles, it was 60 years. For us it may be longer, or shorter. I know we pray to live very long, but the truth remains that we don’t know when our time here on earth will be over.
This all boils down to time management. What do you spend your time doing? Do you spend your time watching tv? Or do you spend it sleeping? Is what you are doing right now taking you anywhere closer to fulfilling your purpose? Are the friends in your life helping you live out your purpose? It is crucial we understand that what we are now and what we will become, are dependent upon how we use our time. Get busy doing what you were sent here for. Because you don’t have all the time in the world.

Another thing got me thinking, which I read from the bible. It goes thus, “each of us will give a personal account to God.” Romans 14:12
And apostle Paul advised that we should live to please God only, because we are accountable to him.
Take for instance, you have a boss to whom you are accountable. I know without a doubt that you would do anything and everything possible to please your boss, because you are answerable or accountable to him
And when I understood this, I lost the taste for pleasing men. Because I understood that am not accountable to man but to God, therefore, I should make sure whatever I do is pleasing to God.

The statement I look forward to is this: welcome home thou good and faithful servant
We are servants of God, sent here to do something, find out what you’ve been sent to do and do it. And you find your purpose by asking your creator. Since he made you, he had a plan for you when he made you. It is the same way a manufacturer created his product for a purpose. In addition, always remember that time cannot and will not wait for you, it cannot adjust for you, it cannot be stopped, it moves on whether you like it or not because it is no respecter of persons. What are you doing with the life (time) you have? Is it pleasing to God? Remember that you have just one life, and if you do it well, once is enough. Don’t joke with your life. One day, you will stand before God and tell him what you have done with the life(time) he has given you. Believe it or not!

May God help us to live wisely on earth, so that when we stand before him to give an account of our lives, we will not be ashamed, in Jesus’ name, Amen!

Thank you Dr Myles for living out God’s purpose! Thank you so much for responding to God’s call! Thank you so much for every word of wisdom you uttered! Your words have succeeded in redefining what I think about life. And I will forever thank God for letting you pass the earth.
You will greatly be missed!
Rest on Dr Myles Munroe and all who died on that crash.
